Treasure Basket

A Treasure Basket is a shallow, sturdy basket containing a selection of everyday objects. It gives each child the opportunity to explore using their senses to discover what the object is, what it is like and perhaps what it does when shaken or manipulated. It is a simple, fun and very effective way of enriching the early experiences of children with sight problems and it is also an inexpensive resource that parents can create easily at home.

Wrapping Paper

How often do children open the present and ignore it to play with the wrapping paper.  You can get a range of bright colours and patterns and they make a great noise when scrunched up.  Pop in the recycling bag when it is finished with and you are helping the planet!

Pots and Pans

Pots, pans and trays can be great fun to play with your children.  They can be hit with different utensils – wooden spoons make a different noise from plastic or metal ones.  Make the sound at a distance and move in closer so your child can follow the sound.  Great fun for everyone!
